Post 16: In just over 36hrs I will be in the Happiest Place on Earth...

...with one of my most favorite people on Earth. My sister is currently in transit to Orlando,  FL where I will be meeting her and her husband tomorrow. For the first time in our lives Kimberly and I will be at Disney World, and I don't know if they can handle us.

Saturday & Sunday: Magic Kingdom & Epcot!
What could be more exciting than Fourth of July weekend with my sister and brother-in-law at Disney? NOTHING!

I never realized how intrinsic these Orlando Parks were until I got down here and started looking into tickets. We are getting a four-day park-hopper pass that I will only be using 2 days of. I have wanted to go to Epcot forever, and I am gonna finally meet Tigger (That is T-I- double Gah- Er!) and Goofy (whom has been my favorite member of Mickey Mouse's gang forever).

Insert me right next to this lovable tiger with his especially springy tail!  I am totally getting a hug from Goofy!

On Monday I will have pictures of Kimberly, Kenny and Me at Disney World. For now I am just getting really excited!

Post 15: Sunday is a perfect day for a Sunset

First picture of the Gulf of Mexico

After dinner at the Horseshoe Cafe
Making themselves comfortable.

My sunset.

My feet in the Gulf of Mexico.

Sonya and Jess finding critters.

I would have taken this with me but there was still a critter inside.

Footprints in the sand.

Getting closer. It was so beautiful.

My goal is to live in this Gulf-side town when I grow up.

Breathtaking.

Me and my sunset.

Crab on the rock.

Showing a little leg.

My camera has a sunset mode.

Sadly it wasn't the right conditions for the Green Flash.

Good bye Sun and Gulf of Mexico.

Post 13: S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y, hey!

Sonya and her watermelon.
We had cookies, pizza, and soda... total college-kid thing to do.

Coca-Cola
Friday: We made it downtown and saw what Gainesville had to offer. We found an Irish pub (Mother's), and a pretty cool billiards hall (Main St Pool and Bar). It was a bit of a walk but it was a good night.

Cookies!
Saturday: We had a chill night where we played poker, ate pizza and cookies, and enjoyed each others company until 5 in the morning. (Physics students can find things to talk about.)

Post 12: What it is like to work in a Hospital.

soon to be Dr.
So 'my' "office" is on the 4th floor of Shands Hospital. It is the pediatric floor, but I am not in the main hospital but instead within an off shoot that no one goes to unless you work there. I share the office with 5-6 other people at any one time. Most of the time I get in so early I have the office all to myself for 2-3 hrs.

On the rare occasion that I eat lunch with people I eat with grad students that are the experimental side of the research I am doing. Where I model a rat brain they are actually poking and prodding at one. The are a quite ridiculous bunch. The are always making fun of each other and trying to act like they were the victim. The one guy said he liked my voice which is the weirdest compliment I have ever received.

As for the rest of the environment: My single friends, are you looking for a Doctor to one day call your own? There are some prospects here in Gainesville. If I were the kind of girl that objectified men and stared at their butts a hospital provides the perfect view, scrubs have the ability to leave very little to the imagination.

I told you I was going to post this:

Rachel's Thoughts: FINALLY: Cardio vs. Strength Training: "As some of you know I have been sick the past twoish weeks. ( I had strep throat, but a false negative test prevented me from getting the ri..."

Post 10: The REUers

15 Total students.
4 Females.
Today is the start of our first weekend after our first week. Shenanigans will ensue: Beer tasting tonight, picnic tomorrow, dinner at my mentor's house on Sunday.

Beer tasting: everyone bring a little something they like and everyone can try it out.
Picnic: free food and fun, what more does a college student need?
Dinner: Sachin invited all of us researchers over to his house for dinner.

I have begun to cope with the warm weather. Anywhere I go I need to carry water with me, it helps me get place to place alive, and without all of my water content streaming down my face. I have also gotten considerable blonder already. All this sunshine has really lightened my hair, and I LOVE IT!
